It is now, quite apparent, that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on your business and your day to day life. At T&T Power Group, it certainly has changed a few things.

March 26, 2020

A major question today among business owners is whether or not your business can stay open, and how the pandemic affects your operations. We have created a short video to help you manage your business during this challenging time, and to explain some of the resources that are available to you.

Recently, provincial governments across the country have made the very difficult decision to close non-essential businesses. But what constitutes an essential business? Follow the links below to see the full list for each jurisdiction.

Is my business allowed to operate?

One thing that's common in all jurisdictions is that if your business can be conducted through the phone and internet, your business should be able to operate indefinitely.

However, if your company requires personnel to be on site at a customer’s location or on site at your own place of business, you may or may not be required to shutter your doors.

Make sure to check your local area to find out more. This may change as things play out, so make sure to check back in, when necessary. Some of the businesses that have been designated as essential from coast to coast at this time are as follows:

  • Businesses relating to the supply chain of goods and services:
    • Packaging
    • Processing
    • Delivery
  • Food services:
    • Grocery stores
    • Food delivery
    • Food delivery
    • Pet food stores
  • Retail and Wholesale
    • Pharmacies
    • Gas Stations
    • Hardware Stores
  • Building maintenance services
  • Manufacturing
  • Agriculture
  • Utilities
  • Natural Resources
  • Most Trades, such as:
    • Electrical
    • Mechanical
    • HVAC specialists
    • Fire Safety maintenance

If your business is not on the list but you are directly supporting an essential business, you are permitted to remain open, at least for now. If you are not sure whether your business fits into one of these categories, we encourage you to call on the Ontario “Stop the Spread” business information line @ 1.888.444.3659.
