Located in south-western Ontario, this client operates one of the largest auto manufacturing plants in Canada. As a major employer in the province, the company is continually looking for cost-saving measures to remain competitive.
Power customers in Ontario most dependent on electricity are aggressively penalized for using power during demand peaks on the electricity grid. Due to operational requirements, our client could not reliably reduce electricity demand during peak times, resulting in having to pay electricity rates much higher than competitors located in other jurisdictions.
T&T Power Group supplied containerized generator sets in conjunction with long-term service for a 10MW, natural gas-fuelled power plant that is designed to reduce demand from the electrical grid during peak times.
As a result, our client is saving more than $5M CAD per year with the flexibility to operate at full capacity during any time of day. The twelve Siemens gensets currently installed have been so successful that we are in the process of adding a further eight units to the fleet for additional savings.
